The Making of Blond Film
Ein musikalischer Essayfilm von Chez Company in Kooperation mit der Deutschen Oper Berlin // A musical essay film by Chez Company in cooperation with Deutsche Oper Berlin
The Berlin artists' collective Chez Company goes to an art venue that is actually foreign to it: the great institution Deutsche Oper (Berlin).
The master of every opera performance is the score. The same is true here: A score visible in the film "writes" the protagonists and their instructions for action. But who writes the score? That is the question of the film: Why are the role models in the head still so powerful - who writes our identity designs - and how can we rewrite them? Redesign ourselves?
Guided by a diva-like score that claims to know the way, Chez Company, embarks on an emphatic quest into the world of operatic fiction and into very personal realities. In the cosmos of opera, do we find clues to the conception of imagination? In the awareness of the pictorial designs, which do not correspond to our state of thinking, willing, working and living, we realize, we not only live pre-imprinted, but we already pass the imprint on to the next generation.
Fairy tales and the hip swing of models - where do our longings and those of our children come from? Where is our mental home? These questions are negotiated on an essayistic-musical journey. In the place where the repertoire from Salome to Siegfried is played again and again, the artists try to found a new myth of their own. Why not steal from Wagner? Interviews, conversations, performance scraps, the search for the beginning and for the end are blended into a compositional collage.
And finally, the core question crystallizes: How can one live well at all? To be with oneself, to become identical with outside and inside?
Can music/art be a solution?
